CHRISMAN – Walter Quick Jr., age 89, of Chrisman went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Nov. 1, 2017) at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
Walter was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Tuscola, to Walter Quick Sr. and Hulda Marie (Greve) Quick. He married Dorothy Mae Hines on Dec. 31, 1949, in Brocton.
Walter was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Chrisman Christian Church, Edgar Masonic Lodge 829 and Edgar County Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed riding and watching horse and watching NASCAR races, and he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories of his growing-up years.
Walter is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Quick of Chrisman; two children, Leslie (Theresa) Quick of Newman and Carolyn (Bill) George of Oakwood; three sisters, Helen Barrett, Phyllis Williams and Patricia Reeley; six grandchildren, Lauri (Dennis) Flaherty, Heather (Joel) Vargas, Gayle Moss, David (Jodie) Myers, Josh (Kelli) Quick and Mike (Kayla) Quick; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dorothy Barrett, Eileen Church and Retha Keller.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Young America Cemetery.
