Lyle William Murdock, 75, of Monticello, passed away Thursday morning at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Lyle was born October 2, 1941 in Monticello, IL, the son of John Murdock and Imogene Bennett. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Becky Willis Murdock, as well as children, Scott and DeAnna Murdock and Kristine Murdock; grandchildren Erin and Jeff Clevinger, Austin and Courtney Murdock, Jake and Brittney Vandiver, Hannah Murdock; and 5 great grandchildren.
Lyle was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired electrician. He was member Masonic Lodge 58 of Monticello, Lions Club, & Faith in Action .He played a very active role in the community as Alderman and City council member. He spent his spare time volunteering for several organizations, woodworking, and taking his dogs to the dog park. Lyle's unique sense of humor and love of life inspired all friends and family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A celebration of life will be held at on a later date to be determined. Memorials can be made to Monticello Dog Park, a place dear to Lyle's heart.
