Joseph Lynn Speiser


MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Joseph Lynn Speiser, 79, entered Heaven on Thursday (April 13, 2017) in Moses Lake, Wash.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, whom he married in Fayette County, Ill., in 1956. Joe is also survived by his son, Charles, and his daughter, Joni (Don) Harris; sister, Helen "Sue" (Dave) Thomas; and brother, Jim (Kelly) Speiser.
He was born in Hillsboro, Ill., on May 28, 1937, to parents Charles William Speiser and Elta Weisner (Nee) McDonald. He graduated from Champaign High School in 1955 and served our country in the Naval Reserves.
Joe was a carpenter by trade and rose through the ranks to become superintendent and construction manager on several large projects in and around Illinois and Indiana.
On a personal level, he bred, trained and showed basset hounds. His kennel produced over 100 AKC Champions over time.
He was an avid University of Illinois sports fan and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends - especially Pitch and Euchre.
Joe was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
As an adult, he managed the same family farm where he had spent so much treasured time with his grandparents growing up.
Known as "Pap" by all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he will be missed by all.
