BEMENT – Herbert F. Lust Sr., 87, of Bement passed away at 11:15 p.m. Thursday (March 30, 2017) at the Bement Health Care Center, Bement, with his family members by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 E. U.S. Highway 36, Atwood. Burial will follow in the Bement Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held at 6 p.m. following the visitation.
Herb was born on July 18, 1929, on the family farm in rural Hammond, Ill., the son of Henry C. and Audrey V. Emery Lust. He married Ann Halterman on Nov. 12, 1953, at the Bement Christian Church. She survives.
Also surviving are his sons, Herb Lust Jr. of Hammond and Howard (Kay) Lust of Bement; daughters, Kathryn Lust of San Francisco, Calif., and Donna (John) Parks of Urbana; grandchildren, Kristopher (Heather) Lust, Courtney Brown, Jennifer Lust, Nicholas (Moira) Lust and Shelby Lust; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Leland (Delores) Lust of Hammond.
He was preceded by his parents; in-laws, Joe and Frances Halterman; daughter, Cynthia Lust; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lust.
Herb worked as a municipal water main contractor and farmed. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Herb was a member of the Bement Christian Church, Bement Masonic Lodge 365, AF&AM, and the Champaign Moose Lodge.
