Charles "Pete" Jenkins - Russel Lodge - Georgetown

Charles “Pete” Jenkins, 94, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:50pm, Friday, January 20, 2017, at Paris Healthcare Center, Paris, IL. He was born on September 9, 1922, the son of Verlin and Mary {Biggs} Jenkins.

He is survived by: his son, Charles “Ted” T. (Susan) Jenkins of Floral City, FL; his daughter, Mary Kocurek of Seal Beach, CA; his grandchildren, John Naughton of Seal Beach, CA, Wendy (Dave) Beaver of Morgantown, WV, Michael (Sheryl) Twyning of Hacienda Hts, CA, Theresa Michael Twyning of Seal Beach, CA, Katie Pruitt of Minnesota, Rebecca Hulvey of Greenville, IL, Molly Jenkins of Florida, & Aden Jenkins of Florida; and his fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his sister, Phyllis JoAnn Calin; and his brothers, Fred & Norman Jenkins.

Pete was a proud Veteran of the US Army and was ranked as Sergeant First Class. He served during WWII in Germany. Pete was a member of the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 of Georgetown, as well as a Mason in the Russel Lodge #154. He enjoyed raising dogs, fish, and birds. Pete was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown.


A celebration of Pete’s life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Pastor Aaron Rhode officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in McKendree Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Pete’s name to Bethel Baptist Church, Georgetown.
