TUSCOLA – Arnold E. Hutchens, 90, of Tuscola passed away at 7:45 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 7, 2017) at his residence.
Funeral and Masonic services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 S. Main St., Tuscola, with the Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.
Arnold was born on Feb. 18, 1926, in Lamar, Ark. He married Anita L. Chaplin on March 11, 1977, in Tuscola. She preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2012.
Survivors include his son, Harold Hutchens of Champaign; daughter, Cheryl Broady of Villa Grove; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Dennis (Cathy) Chaplin of Camargo and Mark (Cathy) Chaplin of Tuscola; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and his little dog, Sugar.
Arnold and his wife moved back to Tuscola in April 2010 after residing in Russellville, Ark., for 18 years.
Arnold was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. He worked for many years as a pipeline worker, mechanic and welder. He was a very hard worker and worked all over the country for different pipeline companies.
Arnold served his country during World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Arnold was a member of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge 332, AF & AM, and the VFW. He loved to go deer hunting, fishing and eating out. Arnold enjoyed helping people in need and loved telling great stories.
