DANVILLE – Richard Chapman, 77, of Danville passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2016).
He was born Sept. 20, 1939, to Ralph and Gladys Chapman in Danville. Richard married his wife, Ruthie, in June 1966. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. He is survived by their son, Robb (Patty) Chapman; his daughters, Dawne and Holly; and his stepsons, Bill (Yolanda) Marquis and Bob (Kris) Marquis. He has five grandchildren.
Richard was a lifelong salesman, and his last employer was NAPA Auto Parts. He was in an unfortunate accident four years ago and was cared for by many excellent nurses and caregivers at his home.
Richard belonged to many organizations throughout the years, including serving as Worshipful Master of Pleasantview No. 782 and Olive Branch No. 38. He also was a 32nd degree Mason of Danville Scottish Rite and was awarded his MSA. He was co-chairman of the board and was instrumental in establishing the Children's Dyslexia Center of East Central Illinois.
A celebration of his life will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at the Gao Grotto.
