RANTOUL – Harold Dean Loy, 88, of Rantoul passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Monmouth, a son of Ervin and Maud (Richardson) Loy.
He married Barbara Jean Lovell on Oct. 2, 1948, in Macomb. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1994. He married Dorothy "Dottie" Berry Lee on Oct. 26, 1996. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Rick Loy of Paxton, Larry Loy of the Virgin Islands, Ron (Mary) Loy of Rantoul; six stepchildren, Johnny (Cheryl) Lee of Rantoul, Janis Gordon of Potomac, Vicki VanMeter of Danville, Vera Lee of Danville, Dottie Ann Williams of Missouri, Sandy Curtis of Gifford; a brother, Miles (Barb) Loy of Iowa; two sisters, Mildred Moon of Macomb, Dorothy Loy of Texas; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandkids and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three stepchildren and two grandsons, Richard Alan and Joey.
Harold served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years.
He retired from Kraft Foods in Champaign. He was owner and operator of Loy Auto Parts and Loy Rentals in Rantoul. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Church of Nazarene in Rantoul, where he served on the church board and the building committee.
Harold was a loving son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. Dr. John W. Connect will officiate. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Lux Memorial Chapel.
