SAVOY – Donald Pritchard, 89, of Savoy passed away at 11:42 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 28, 2016) at the Champaign-Urbana Regional Rehab Center in Savoy.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1926, in Urbana to William and Mary Emma Allen Pritchard. He married Doris Forshey on June 19, 1949, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 1990. He then married Charlotte Timme on Aug. 30, 1998, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mark (Diane) Pritchard of Champaign, David (Teresa) Pritchard of Litchfield and Michael Pritchard of Cape Coral, Fla.; seven grandchildren; one stepdaughter; and one sister, Wilma Grussing of Bellflower.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
He served in the U.S. Army and served in the Asiatic Theater.
He was a former village clerk of Savoy for eight years and was a charter member of the Savoy Fire Department. He coached Little League baseball in the Babe Ruth League.
He retired from the University of Illinois in 1982 from the Electrical Computer Engineering store as superintendent.
He was a life member of the Urbana Masonic Lodge No. 157 AF&AM and a member of Consistory Lodge Valley of Danville, and a member of the ANSAR Shrine of Springfield and the Illini Shrine Club.
He was also an institutional representative for the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Carle Auxiliary escort service. He was also a member of the Savoy United Methodist Church in Savoy.
He enjoyed gardening and parading with the Shriners.
Visitation for Mr. Pritchard will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Mark Brown officiating. Interment will take place immediately following at Prairieview Cemetery, Savoy.
