MANSFIELD – William R. Mackey, 88, of Mansfield passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar St., Mahomet, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Mr. Mackey was born in 1928 in Decatur, the son of Floyd and Mae (Moore) Mackey. He married Frances Headlee in 1948; they have lived in the Mansfield area ever since.
He is survived by his wife and his daughter, Sheila (Mackey) Little of Henderson, Nev.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers (J.W., Philip and Robert), one sister (Jean Gray) and a son (Stephan).
He proudly served as a Seaman First Class in the Navy, then returned to central Illinois, where he worked as a coffee salesman and maintenance man before retiring. He was a Life Member of the Farmer City Masonic Lodge.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Chicago Bears.
