John “Jack” Martin Dolan, 75, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Danville. Services will be at 1pm Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville with Rev. Randall Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 11-1pm Wednesday July 6 at Pape’s, with Masonic Services at 10:30am. Burial will follow services at Sunset Memorial Park.
Jack was born June 24, 1941 in Chicago to John and Nadine (Meeker) Dolan Sr. After High School, he worked at a wide variety of places, including Chuckles, Danville Police Department along with being the chief of police in Tilton, and later working and retiring from Pepsi. After retiring, Jack continued to keep busy, working as a driver for Carmack & Royal, transporting children for the Shriners to their doctor appointments in St. Louis & Chicago. Jack was a longtime member of St. James United Methodist Church, a Past Worshipful Master of Olive Branch #38 in 2003, a Past Worshipful Master of Anchor Lodge #980 in 2006, in 2008 received the Meritorious Service Award from the AASR Valley of Danville, member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and member of the Gao Grotto. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, and spending time with his family & grandchildren.
Jack married Linda Kaye Meyer on July 3, 1964, and the two had shared over fifty-one years together before her passing on November 3, 2015. Survivors include his daughter: Melinda Dolan (Phillip Reed), two grandsons: Ryland Dolan and Drake Reed, and a granddaughter: Karmella Kae Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and a brother Harry John Dolan.
