Lester Conrad King, 89, of Shiloh, Ill., born Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1926, in Republic, Pa., died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at St. Louis University Hospital, Saint Louis, Mo.
Lester was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Alpha Lodge 729 AF & AM in Dayton, Ohio, an honorary member of St. Clair 24 AF & AM and O'Fallon Lodge 576 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and received a Honorary 33 Degree in 2013 in Washington, D.C., Ainad Shrine, Legion of Honor, High-12 Club, Past State Treasurer of Illinois High-12 clubs for 22 years, National Sojourners Charles A. Lindbergh Chapter 247, and Shiloh and O'Fallon Senior citizens. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Anna Mae, nee Lear, King; a brother, James King; and two sisters, Donna Herring, and Dolores Innis.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth I., nee Scharf, King of Shiloh, Ill.; his children, Leslie Goldberg of O'Fallon, Ill., Kevin (Kathy) King of Belleville, Ill.,
Keith (Debora) King of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Lindsay Goldberg,
Carlos Goldberg, Paula Goldberg, Becky (Kevin) Murray,
Teri (Bob) Williard, Dan (Ashley) King, Ryan King, and Trevor (Gabreale) King; five great-grandchildren, Aiden Williard, Kailey Murray, Addison Murray, Alaina Jade King, and Reese Murray to be born in June.
