HUME – James Brian Snyder, 52, of Morton, formerly of Hume, passed away on Thursday (March 3, 2016) at his home in Morton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hume United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Shane officiating. Burial will be in the Young America Cemetery, north of Hume. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Joines Funeral Home, 401 W. Gillogly St., Newman, with Masonic rites following at 7 p.m.
James was born on Aug. 12, 1963, at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn., a son of Eldo "Jake" and Joetta Waltz Snyder.
He is survived by his mother, Joetta Snyder Hockstetler and stepfather Chuck Hockstetler of Hume; a daughter, Meghan (Craig) Bowyer of Hume; fiancee, Gina Ehlenbach of Morton; two brothers, Randy (Leigh) Snyder of Metcalf and Terry (Donna) Snyder of Hume; a sister, Desiree (Pat) Rhode of Hume; one stepsister, Sue (Jim) Hite of Mattoon; one nephew; four nieces; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1969, two nieces and one nephew, Paul Rhode.
He was employed by the Schulte Supply Company of Edwardsville.
He loved the game of golf and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins.
He was a member of the Hume United Methodist Church, Edgar Lodge No. 829 and OES No. 7, both of Paris.
