Gene was born on January 4, 1932 in Danville, the son of Charles and Katherine Quick. He married Delores “Tootie” Haun on June 4, 1949.
Gene is survived by his wife Tootie, two sons: Larry Quick and Terry (Cathy) Quick; his four grandchildren: Chad (Shelly) Quick, Lee (Nell) Quick, Nicole (Sean) Lange, all of Westville, and Kimberly (Mike) Weber of Danville. He also had seven great-grandchildren, one surviving sister: Kitty Montgomery, and one brother-in-law: Royce Greer. He will also be greatly missed by his best friend Seigel Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Charlotte Greer.
Gene’s hobbies were racing the #8 stock car and antique cars. He loved his Model T and took several trips with their good friends Dale and Dorothy Potter. He belonged to Masonic Lodge #980, Teamsters Local #26 and drove for OK Trucking for many years. He most of all liked spending time with his boys and all of the grandchildren. He also liked helping others whenever they needed his help, (but only if they did it his way).
The family would like thank the nurses and staff at Hawthorne Inn for the wonderful care they gave him. Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.papefuneral.com, or on the Pape Family Funeral Home Facebook page.
