CATLIN – Dale A. Livingston, 81, of Catlin passed away peacefully at 2:45 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 7, 2016) at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Decatur to Albert Stuart and Myrtle Dodson Livingston. Dale attended Decatur schools and Millikin University and graduated from the University of Illinois. He served in the National Guard in 1957 at Fort Leonard Wood.
While in Decatur, Dale worked for Huss and Scheiper. He then worked as an engineer for General Motors in Danville. His last position was that of project engineer for the building of the GM Saturn facility in Spring Hill, Tenn.
He was a member of the Fountain Lodge No. 60 in Covington, Ind., Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society, New England MG Register, Illiana Antique Auto Club, NRA and Catlin Methodist Church. He was a Catlin Township trustee for the last 15 years.
Dale was a lover of cars. His passion was antique British cars. He restored several of these cars "from the bottom up" and showed his 1949 MGTC for the last 20 years in shows in the Midwest and Eastern United States.
He was married to Nancy Gibbons, who survives. They had three children, Rodney (DeAnna) Livingston, Rebecca Butner and Renee (Melvin) Mingee, all of Catlin.
He married Carolyn Miller on Oct. 8, 1976, at Second Church of Christ in Danville. His stepsons are Daniel Miller of Arlington, Va., Michael (Tonda) Miller of Indianola and Tim (Judy) Miller of Ridgefarm.
Dale is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children and stepchildren; his granddaughter, Melissa (Rob) Goad of Ohio; and his grandson, Beau Butner of Catlin. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, Kyle (Matt) Barrett of Rossville, Annette Bazarnyz of Kentucky and Erin (Lucas) Barton of Westville; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Davis-White, Audrey and Scarlett Goad, Tanner and Cambree Bazarnyz and Clay and Chloe Barton. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-grandson, Todd Miller.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Catlin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Divan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with Masonic services by the Fountain Lodge No. 60 of Covington, Ind., at 5:30 p.m. at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Memorials in Dale's memory may be made to the Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society, Shriner's Hospital for Children or Danville Rescue Mission.
