David Bartholomew - Arthur Lodge

ARTHUR – David Loren Bartholomew, 60, of Arthur died at 1:04 a.m. Friday (Dec. 4, 2015) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the Arthur United Methodist Church, 128 E. Illinois St., with the Rev. Bruce Weiman officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine St., Arthur. Masonic rites will be conducted following the visitation.
David was born July 2, 1955, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Ernest and Patricia Beth Ulrey Bartholomew. He married Gemma McKee at Lake Tahoe, Calif., on Aug. 26, 2005.
Surviving are his wife, Gemma McKee-Bartholomew of Arthur; mother, Patricia Beth Bartholomew of Arthur; stepdaughter, Eleanor McKee-Volkmer (Jeffrey) of Carleton, Neb.; brother, Mark Bartholomew and wife Terrie Dupree of Flower Mound, Texas; and two nephews, Zachary Bartholomew of Corinth, Texas, and Colten Bartholomew of La Crosse, Wis.
David graduated from Arthur High School Class of 1973. He then attended Eastern Illinois University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1977. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University in the School of Law, graduating in 1980.
In 1980, David started as assistant state's attorney in Douglas County. He was later appointed Douglas County state's attorney. After 1985, he went to Springfield, serving first in the Secretary of State's office and then in the Illinois Department of Revenue where he was deputy director in law enforcement until retiring in 2009.
David was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church; Arthur Lodge AF&AM Lodge No. 825; Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Danville Consistory; Tri-County Ansar Shrine; Illinois Police Association, where he was vice president; and Douglas County Crime Stoppers.
Memorials are suggested to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis,; Arthur United Methodist Church; or the Arthur Masonic Lodge.
