MONTICELLO – Robert I. "Bob" Corman, 81, of Monticello, formerly of Hammond, Ill., passed away at 10:14 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2015) at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East U.S. 36, Atwood.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, with military rites accorded.
Bob was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Decatur, the son of Martin and Vera Heckel Corman. He married Marlene K. Sieh on Nov. 24, 1957, at Lake Fork Church, rural Atwood.
He leaves his wife and three children, Robert (Cindy) Corman Jr. of Hammond, Susan (Randy) Murphy of Sullivan and Sandra Reed of The Villages, Fla. Bob also leaves his grandchildren that he adored, Dalton Corman, Meredith and Tori Murphy, Shauna Daniels, Casey Finger and Cody Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
Bob farmed for many years in the Hammond area. He loved to plant the seed and watch it grow. He always said harvest time is beautiful.
Bob graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1956. Bob served on the Atwood-Hammond School Board and the First State Bank of Hammond Board of Directors.
He was a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church, Arthur Masonic Lodge No. 825, AF & AM and the Ansar Shrine.
Memorials are suggested to the Hammond United Methodist Church or Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
