TOLONO – Fletcher Dean Davis, 91, of Tolono, formerly of Columbus, Ind., passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday (June 4, 2015) at the Newman Rehab Nursing Home, Newman.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., Champaign, is handling arrangements.
Mr. Davis was born July 5, 1923, in Columbus, Ind., son of Clarence F. and Frona Davis. He was married to Mary J. Beabout on Sept. 6, 1944. They had two children, Michael D. Davis (deceased) and Pamela G. Hartman, of Tolono.
Mr. Davis was a World War II veteran. He was also a member of the Western Star 240, a Past Worshipful Master and a Past Worthy Patron of the Vesper Chapter 128.
He was a loving grandfather of five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He loved to play pool, work out in his shed, tinkering with small engines, and do wood working. He was most known for striking a conversation with anyone he passed by. He was a man who never met a stranger.
