LODGE – Jeffery T. "Bear" Maden, 62, of Lodge passed away at 11:06 a.m. Sunday (May 24, 2015) at Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
Jeff was born on Sept. 1, 1952, in Urbana, the son of Gaylord T. and Dolores R. (Fitzwater) Maden. He married Trudy K. Dubson on June 15, 1974, of Lodge. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Danielle Maden; his future son-in-law, Alex Neubauer; his sister, Jennifer (Kenny) Eades; two brothers-in-law, Rick (Melinda) Dubson and Terry (Kristie) Dubson; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents.
Jeff was a 1971 graduate of Monticello High School and attended Bailey Tech Diesel Mechanic School, St. Louis.
Jeff worked as a welder at Illini Steel, was self-employed as an owner-operator of a semi, and was a third-generation farmer. He farmed in Piatt County for over 40 years.
Jeff was somewhat a quiet man, a "gentle giant" with a heart of gold. He was a very caring and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was good with his hands and had the uncanny ability to fix about anything.
His interests included riding his motorcycle, shooting sports, playing musical instruments, gardening, reading, anything to do with farming, and most of all spending time with his family.
He was a member of DeLand Masonic Lodge No. 812, Sons of the American Legion, Ansar Shriners and Pheasants Forever.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, with Pastor Greg Courtright officiating. Masonic Services will be held immediately before the funeral. Burial will be in DeLand Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Faith in Action, Monticello.
