MONTICELLO – Leon Edwin Blackburn, 82, of Monticello passed away at 1:47 p.m. Monday (Dec. 22, 2014) at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Monticello United Methodist Church, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Leon was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Tecumseh, Ind., the son of Wallace Edwin and Viola (Butler) Blackburn. He married Jere (Harmon) Blackburn on July 7, 1956, in Paris, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Jere Blackburn of Monticello; children, Mark (Teri) Blackburn of Monticello, Elaine (Tim) Grubb of Philo and Lisa (Brad) Shipp of Philo; and grandchildren, Megan Shipp, Paige Shipp, Trevor Blackburn and Madison Blackburn.
Leon loved spending time with his family along with hunting, fishing and playing cards. Leon was a Masonic Lodge member and a member of the Shriners.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Food Pantry.
