PAXTON – Albert "Merle" Lundeen, 87, of Paxton died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28, 2014) at the Illinois Knights Templar Home, Paxton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with Pastor Debra Domeier officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, with military funeral honors by the Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Merle was born July 12, 1927, in Paxton, the son of Albert M. and Mabel E. Heindselman Lundeen.
He is survived by two nephews, Richard A. (Donna) Lundquist of Paxton and Robert L. (Debra) Lundquist of Homer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gordon K. Lundeen; and one sister, Jeannette L. Lundquist.
Merle graduated from Paxton High School and Butler University, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an air traffic controller for 29 years for the Federal Aviation Agency in Des Plaines, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Washington, D.C.
He was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, Paxton, and a member of the Paxton Masonic Lodge No. 416 AF&AM and the Rantoul Moose. He enjoyed fishing, walking and volunteering at the Illinois Knights Templar Home.
