MAHOMET – Mervin T. Parrett, 100, of rural Mahomet passed away at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 10, 2014) at his home.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1913 in Mahomet to F.R. and Mary Parrett. He married Lois Hawthorne on May 9, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2000.
Mervin was a lifelong farmer in Mahomet and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mahomet and was also a Free Mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed raising Angus cattle and showing corn samples at the county fair.
Surviving are two daughters, Pam (Jim) Wood of Sidney and Camella (Larry) Ryterski of Peoria; one son, Kevan (Laura) Parrett of Mahomet; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mervin will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, with a Masonic Service to be held at 6 p.m.
Funeral services for Mervin will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Mahomet, with the Rev. Brian Romanowski officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
