TUSCOLA – Elbert T. "Ted" Mick, 76, of Plantation, Fla., formerly of Tuscola, passed away at 7:58 p.m. Monday (July 7, 2014) at the West Side Regional Hospital in Plantation.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St., Arcola. Rev. Kenneth Roedder and Rev. Ted Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in the Tuscola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Masonic Rites conducted by the Tuscola Masonic Lodge No. 322 AF&AM will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the visitation at the funeral home.
Ted was born on Oct. 26, 1937, at Harrisburg, Ill. He was a son of Ira B. and Mary M. (Herpel) Mick. He married Gayle Guyer on Dec. 4, 1954, at Annapolis, Ill.
Ted is survived by his wife, Gayle Mick of Plantation, Fla.; two sons, Stephen Mick and his wife Donna of Plantation, Fla., and Glen Mick and his wife Julie of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two granddaughters, Erica Mick and Natalie Mick; one sister, Linda Coale and her husband Jim of Hutsonville, Ill.; a brother-in-law, R. Warren Guyer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ted was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church and was an associate member of the Plantation United Methodist Church. He was very active in the church as well as the Lions Club, where he served as past District 1E governor. He was a member and past Master of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge No. 332 AF&AM.
Ted worked at USI in Tuscola for over 40 years, retiring in 1997 as a maintenance mechanic.
