LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – Elmer Eugene "Gene" Robinson, 82, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., formerly of Atwood and Urbana, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at home.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. July 1, 2014, at Mackville Cemetery in Atwood. Arrangements are being handled by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory of Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Gene was born on April 17, 1932, in Moultrie County, a son of Elmer and Helen (Hood) Robinson. He was raised by his great-uncle and great-aunt, Earl and Lilly (Collins) Foreman of Pierson Station.
Gene graduated from Atwood High School in 1950, joining the U.S. Air Force in 1951, serving as an engine mechanic in Korea. In 1954, he went to work at U.S. Industrial Chemicals Inc. (USI) in Tuscola for 16 years.
He married Karen Mayfield in May of 1955. Gene moved to Urbana and went to work at Cunningham Children's Home until he retired in 1995, moving to Lake Havasu City.
Gene joined the Masonic Lodge of Atwood in 1958, becoming a Knight Templar, York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rites, Valley of Bloomington at Champaign Consistory, 32nd degree Mason. He was accepted into the Ansar Shrine Club in 1968. He was a life member of Moose Lodge, VFW Post and American Legion. In Lake Havasu, he was a member of the Shrine Club, Eagles and Elks Lodges.
Gene is survived by his daughters, Dawn A. Ulbricht of Atwood and Michelle (Jimmy) Steven of Tuscola; a sister, Sue (Robinson) Roberts of Harrisburg; granddaughters, Vernita (Slade) Spry, Katy (D.J.) Hart and Sara (Slade) Foster, all of Atwood; five great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including John Foreman of Champaign and Frank and Dot Thompson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and longtime friend Donna Cataldo of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepparents; stepbrother, Curtis Foreman; sisters, Vona (Robinson) Bernard of Decatur, Eileen (Foreman) Ellis of Prescott, Ariz., and Bonnie (Foreman) Souvers and Leona (Foreman) Cook, both of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; brother, Forest Foreman of Hammond; and son-in-law, Michael Ulbricht, and grandson-in-law, Charles Spry, both of Atwood.
