ROSSVILLE – William A. "Bill" Morris, 68, of Rossville passed away at 10:50 a.m. Thursday (May 22, 2014) at his home in Rossville.
He was born Sept. 17, 1945, at Otterbein, Ind., the son of Gregory F. and Anne Marie (Rausch) Morris. He married Sandra J. Gwin on Oct. 11, 2003. She survives in Rossville.
He is also survived by two daughters, Denise (Jerry) Lewellen of Otterbein, Ind., and Jessie (Mike) Arnold of Lafayette, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Kim (Brad) Johnson of Hoopeston; one son, Greg (Jill) Morris of Lafayette, Ind.; one stepson, Chad Deno of Lafayette, Ind.; one sister, Ruth Herriott of Wapakoneta, Ohio; two brothers, Jim (Linda) Morris of Lafayette, Ind., and Bob Morris of Lafayette, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Lucas; and one brother-in-law, Kenny Herriott.
Bill worked in maintenance doing heating and cooling for GTE until his retirement. He later worked at Purdue University in the heating and cooling department.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968.
Bill was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church, the Rossville American Legion Post 733, the Hoopeston Masonic Star Lodge 709 and the Hoopeston VFW Buddy Egnew Post 4826.
He helped with the Rossville American Legion Veterans Memorial and also served as a committal officer. Bill enjoyed fishing, woodworking, boating and attending car shows.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Rossville United Methodist Church, 116 Maple St., Rossville.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Carl Mesiti officiating.
Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded and the burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the Danville National Cemetery.
