RANKIN – Edward "Lee" Irvin, 93, of Rankin passed away on Monday (May 19, 2014) at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
Lee was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Rankin, the son of Harry and Edna Fisher Irvin, and they preceded him in death. He married Ruth Ellen Horton on March 19, 1950, in Rankin, and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2002.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry "Salty" and Wayne; and one sister, Imogene.
He is survived by one son, Warren (Marcy) Irvin of Normal; one daughter, Ann (Doug) Morger of Catlin; two brothers, Ray Irvin of Lancaster, Pa., and Melvin Irvin of Paxton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Irvin served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Rankin United Methodist Church, Hoopeston Masonic Lodge, Danville Consistory and Cissna Park American Legion. Lee retired from American Oil after 23 years.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin. The Rev. Janet Longtin will officiate. Burial will be in the Rankin Union Cemetery with military graveside rites by Cissna Park American Legion Post 527. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin.
