RANTOUL – James Joe Sparks, 75, U.S. Navy veteran, proud member of the Masonic Lodge and member of the United Methodist Church, passed away at home Saturday (April 19, 2014).
He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Opal and Burt Sparks of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 34 years and the love of his life, Addie Summerlin Sparks, and her extended family of North Carolina and Tennessee.
He was the cherished brother and brother-in-law of the late Pat and Bill Rasmussen of Priest River, Idaho.
He was the loving father of Pamela (Lee Reed) Sparks of Mary Esther, Fla., James (Julie Moore) Sparks of Rantoul and Deborah (Jeff) Zator of Homer Glen.
He was the proud grandfather of Chase, Jake, Grandt, Jessica and Ryan.
He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Vernon Ehler of Rantoul; and his youngest sister, Sue Eads of Spirit Lake, Idaho.
He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim was an avid fisherman, NASCAR fan and caring, long-term member of the community. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, including his extended family from the Huling home.
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday (April 27) at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul.
