DANVILLE – Virlon D. Starr, 80, of Danville passed away at St. Vincent's Hospice in Indianapolis on Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014) with family by his side.
Virlon was born July 15, 1933, in Danville, the son of Orville and Ruth (Kagel) Starr. He married Linda Hannah on April 6, 1957, in Danville; she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Tim P. Starr of Danville and Kim L. Starr of Indianapolis; one brother-in-law, Bill (Wilma) Hannah of Danville; and two nephews, Bill (Cindy) Hannah Jr. of Indianapolis and Erich Hannah of Covington, Ind.
Virlon was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ruth Starr.
He was a member of Anchor Lodge, Scottish Rite's 32nd degree, Ansar Shrine Eastern Illinois, Shrine Club, Gao Grotto, American Legion and Elks. He also served on the Gordon Cemetery board. Virlon was a retired farmer and retired with 49 years from the Operating Engineers Local 841.
A celebration of Virlon's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Visitation will be from 9:30 until time of service Thursday morning at the funeral home.
