DANVILLE – James "Calvin" Brown, 79, of Danville passed away on Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2014).
He was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Danville, the son of Robert and Ethel Meeker Brown.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Vicky) Brown; his sisters, Corabelle Todd and Louellyn Edwards; his daughter-in-law, Becky; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Chase and Chad Brown; his great-grandchildren, Amelia, Madilynn, Dakota, Darbiee and Draycin; and his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James; and his brothers, Verlan, Leland and Darrell.
James was a man who loved his work; he started Brown Trucking and Excavating in 1968, and it is still running strong to this day. He was the type of man you could go to with a problem, and he would always have the solution for you.
James also enjoyed spending time relaxing by his pond; he never had a line touch water, he simply loved to sit and enjoy the scenery.
James was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of The Shriners, as well as a member of The Gao Grotto. Above all else, James loved his family and he will be sorely missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known him.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville.
Please join the Brown family in sharing memories, pictures and videos of James' life on his tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
