FITHIAN – James F. Davis II, 58, lifelong Fithian area farmer, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Friday (July 19, 2013) as a result of an automobile accident near St. Joseph.
He was born Dec. 5, 1954, in Danville to James F. and Ardyth Dobbles Davis. He married Kathy Burton in June 1988; they later divorced.
She survives, as well as his mother, Ardyth Davis of Fort Myers, Fla.; one son, Nathan (Bridget Stipp) Davis of Boswell, Ind.; two brothers, Ray W. (Judy) Davis of Fithian and Tim (Teresa) Davis of Fithian; two sisters, Rose Marie (Charles) Smilgys of Aurora and Anita Davis of Fort Myers, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father.
James farmed and enjoyed livestock, and loved to "tinker." He had been a Mason for 24 years, and a member of the Catlin Masonic Lodge, Ansar Shrine, Eastern Illinois Shrine Club, and he rode the Super Cycle. James loved life and always lived his to the fullest.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fithian United Methodist Church. Rev. Kim Dancey will officiate. Burial will be in Stearns Cemetery at Fithian.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robison Chapel, 103 Douglas St., Catlin, with Masonic rites by the Catlin Masonic Lodge at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Eastern Illinois Shrine Club or the Fithian United Methodist Church.
