Edward Logan Mahomet Lodge
Edward Logan, 70, of Champaign passed away at 10:07 a.m. Thursday (July 11, 2013) at home.Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Curtis Road Church of God, 2604 Curtis Road, Champaign.Celebration of Life services and burial will be private. Pastor Christopher Smithey will officiate. A Masonic ceremony will be a part of the graveside service.A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Bondville United Methodist Church, Bondville. Pastor Jerry Nichol will officiate. Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., Champaign, is assisting with arrangements.Ed was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Champaign, a son of William Edward Logan and Iva (Moore) Deaville.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Phil; and his first wife, Virginia.Survivors include two daughters, Kristine (Mark) Nibling of Seymour and Jill (Sal) Nudo of Champaign; two sons, Edward Ray (Jennifer) Logan Jr. of Novi, Mich., and Sam Logan of Champaign; two sisters, Rose (Frank Vaughn) Logan of Carterville, Ill., and Barbara (Peter) Snyder of Ringgold, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Logan Kurtz, Kyle, Ryan, Brooke and Jack Logan.Ed was pastor of several area churches, including the Bondville United Methodist Church, the Indianola United Methodist Church and the Sidell First Baptist Church. He also served on the staff at Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign and had a long career at Pepsi-Cola.He was a member of the Bondville United Methodist Church and the Curtis Road Church of God. He was a 3rd degree Mason and a member of the Mahomet Mason Lodge No. 220 AF&AM.Ed had many interests, including collecting pocket knives, coins, soft drink bottles, dolls, cowboy figures, toy guns, tobacco displays and picture books. He was an avid Cubs fan.Ed remarked that church has been his love, and they loved me.Contributions in memory of Ed may be made to the Curtis Road Church of God, the Bondville United Methodist Church and the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department.
