Bill Blankenship Jr. - De Land Lodge

William Blankenship Jr.

CLINTON – William T. "Bill" Blankenship Jr., 80, of Clinton passed at 1:16 a.m. April 7, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Weldon United Methodist Church, Weldon, with the Rev. C. Don Ferrill and the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Weldon Cemetery, Weldon. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Weldon United Methodist Church.
The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the Weldon United Methodist Church or the Weldon Fire Department.
William was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Canebrake, W.Va., the son of William T. and Blanche (Marrs) Blankenship Sr. He married Dicksie R. Smaller on April 16, 1955, at Williams Air Force Base, Ariz.
Survivors include his wife, Dicksie R. Blankenship of Clinton; children, Elizabeth Baker of Clinton and Donald L. (Melody) Blankenship of McLoud, Okla.; grandchildren, Timothy (Meghan) Baker, Surena Saiter, Shannon (Frank) Sevick and Sydney Young; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; and brother, David O. (Jinny) Blankenship of Ardmore, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mary Ellen Snyder.
William was a member of the Weldon United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Air Force, retiring after 21 years of service to his country.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. No. 812, DeLand, and Weldon American Legion Post 1049. Bill and his wife were past owners of B&D Market, Weldon.
