MONTICELLO – Darrell Eugene "Fog" Fogerson, 70, of Monticello, formerly of Bement, passed away at 6:49 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 31, 2013) at his residence in Monticello.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Bement United Methodist Church, 249 N. Piatt St., Bement. Masonic services will begin at noon, followed by the funeral services. The Masonic services will be conducted by the Atwood Masonic Lodge and the Rev. Steve Ingram will officiate. Private family burial will be at a later date at the Bement Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wee Warriors Christian Daycare, Tuscola, which Fog was very proud of.
Fog was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Bement, a son of Ray A. and Thelma Spelbring Fogerson. He married Magaret M. Fairbanks on May 16, 1964, in Bement and she survives of Monticello. Surviving are two daughters, Deonna (Wally) King of Decatur and Jacqueline (Tom) Walsh of Tuscola. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Eli, Mason and Sam King, and Nolan, Abbey and Sadie Grace Walsh. Other survivors include two brothers, Dean (June) Fogerson of Oreana and Kenny (Karen) Fogerson of Decatur; three sisters, Wilma Eads of Oreana, Phyllis Tipsword of Villa Grove and Diane (Chuck) Pierce of Bement. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Maxine Fogerson of White Heath and Shirley Fogerson of Decatur; and a brother-in-law, Dean Kopp of Oreana.
Fog was preceded in death by his parents; a grandaughter, Meredith Walsh; five brothers, Ray, Robert, Donald, Tim and Leonard Fogerson; and a sister, Kay Kopp.
Fog was a Life member of the Atwood Masonic Lodge, a five-time past-master of Bement Masonic Lodge No. 365 A.F. & A.M. and four-time past-master of the Atwood Masonic Lodge. He coached the Bement ASA Fast-Pitch Softball team that won the state tournament in 1975. Fog was an avid Cub fan and he really enjoyed spending time with family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Roux-Hinds Funeral Home, Bement, has been entrusted by the Fogerson family to serve and honor Darrell's life.
