Dick Rogers - Hume Lodge

VILLA GROVE – Dick "Bud" Rogers, 90, of Villa Grove died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 6, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Joines Funeral Home, Illinois Route 130 South, Villa Grove. Burial will be in the Young America Cemetery at Hume, with military rites by the Hume American Legion. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Rogers was born July 26, 1922, in Hume, a son of Dick O. and Lucia O. (Henderson) Rogers. He married Colleen Kelley on Jan. 6, 1951, in Kansas, Ill. She survives in Villa Grove. Also surviving are two sons, Mark Kelley Rogers of Villa Grove and Kevin James Rogers of Urbana; two granddaughters, Allison K. (Cody) Thomas of Villa Grove and Abigail M. Rogers of Villa Grove; and one great-grandchild, Kanen M. Thomas of Villa Grove.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Mr. Rogers was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during World War II as a 1st lieutenant. He was a member of the Hume American Legion for over 50 years, a member of the Paris Elks Lodge, served for over 30 years on the Hume Village Board and was a member of the Hume Masonic Lodge.
He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Hume for over 24 years. He farmed in the Hume area for several years. He owned the Rogers Paint store in Hume for several years.
He was a lifelong Illini fan and held season football tickets for 50 years and season basketball tickets for over 24 years. Memorials may be made to the U of I Foundation at the University of Illinois.
