Roy Snoddy Jr.
Roy was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Ashmore, to Roy F. Snoddy Sr. and Ethlyn Louise (Teal) Snoddy. On April 8, 1946, he took a train to Topeka, Kan., to marry Martha Louise Essinger; she survives.
He is also survived by five daughters, Sandy Bradford of Ashmore, Kathy (Gary) Cordier of Rantoul, Karen Hardwick of Ashmore, Debbie (Greg) Buell of Ashmore and Kim (Denny) Schwartz of Ashmore; a grandson they raised, David (Sheila) Maxey of Ashmore; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, one son-in-law and one great-granddaughter.
Roy was a hard-working farmer and heavy machinery operator that loved his family dearly. He also enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, his cat "Alley" and his dog "Harley," and spending the winters in Florida. He was a member of Ashmore Masonic Lodge No. 390 and International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 841.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held two hours prior beginning at 5 p.m. with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
