CHAMPAIGN – Bradford Fristoe 93, of Champaign passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday (April 10, 2012) at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.
He was born April 12, 1918, in Piatt County to Willis and Emma Fitzwater Fristoe. He married Janice Riley on April 26, 1964, in Arthur and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, H. Franklin (Linda) Stone of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Scott (Sheree) Stone of Gray, La.; and one daughter, Sue (Mary) Fristoe of Urbana; two grandchildren, Marco Stone of Lakeworth, Texas, and Emma Fristoe of Urbana; and one great- grandchild, Ariana Stone of Lakeworth, Texas. He is also survived by one sister, Alice (Bob) McClure of Forsyth.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ned and Kenney; and six sisters, Edith, Lois, Hazel, Nellie, Martha and Helen in infancy. He will also be very missed by his morning coffee group and many nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong farmer, having farmed in the Bement area most of his life. He served on the Bement Village Board and also the Bement Elevator Board. He also served in the Army Air Corps from 1940 to 1946.
He was a 60-year member of the Bement American Legion Albert Parker Post No. 620, and a 50-year member of the Bement Masonic Lodge No. 365 - Bloomington Consistory.
Visitation for Mr. Fristoe will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, and the funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
