CHAMPAIGN – Donald Karr, 82, of Champaign passed away at 1:37 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 8, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Don was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Danville, the son of E. Floyd and Esther (Sederlund) Karr. He married Marylin Saldeen in Paxton on Sept. 12, 1954. She survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Jeanne (Larry) Lewis and Peggie (Jim) Malloy, both of Champaign; three grandchildren, Joe (Dee) Lewis, Kristine Malloy and Andy Lewis, and great-grandson Joey Lewis, all of Champaign. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter. Don graduated from Paxton High School and attended Gallagher School of Business in Kankakee. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, was past master and a 50-year Mason and a former member of Champaign AMBUCS, C-U Elks and Exchangers Club. A registered land surveyor, Don worked for Goodell Engineering for many years. He was a Realtor, achieved the CCIM designation and was a member of the Champaign County Board of Realtors, of which he was past president. In his retirement, he was employed by Enterprise car rental. Don was an avid Illini and Cub fan. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive, Savoy. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Jaeger at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Food for Seniors, c/o Stevick Center, 48 Main St. Champaign; the Salvation Army; or an organization of the donor's choice.
