Bernard BrillhartCHAMPAIGN – Bernard W. Brillhart, 82, of Champaign, formerly of Bushnell, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 10, 2011) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1929, in Hermon, a son of Chester and Lizzie E. (Horner) Brillhart.
He married Elizabeth "Betty" Smith on Jan. 16, 1986, in Champaign. She survives, of Champaign.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lynn (and Bill Carroll) DeAndrea of Denver, Colo.; sons Stan (and Sue) Brillhart of Andalusia, Steve (and Mary Ann) Brillhart of Kennett Square, Pa., and David Brillhart of Denver, Colo.; stepsons Jeffrey Higgins of Delray Beach, Fla., and Kevin (and Melanie) Higgins of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; stepdaughter, Kimberley (and Randy) Smith of Villa Grove; six grandchildren; and sister, Lola Fusco of Drexel Hill, Pa.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
He was manager of grain elevators in Ipava, Table Grove, Bushnell and Knoxville.
He was a 50-year member of TJ Pickett Lodge 307 of Bushnell,
where he wrote much of their history. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Quincy Consistory. He was a 1967 graduate of Western Illinois University.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, with minister Gary Sheets officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be held immediately following visitation.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
