Ore William Vacketta
DANVILLE – Ore William Vacketta, 89, of Danville died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday (June 15, 2011) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville.
Private visitation for the family will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Monday, June 20, and from 3 to 5 p.m. for the public at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with services immediately following visitation. Private burial services will be at a later date.
Ore was born Aug. 30, 1921, to Gregor and Clara Johnson Vacketta in Humrick. He attended Ridge Farm schools.
He married Catherin Emaline Pearson on July 25, 1936, in Newport, Ind. She preceded him in death in addition to two grandsons, Mark Vacketta and Bradley Carter.
On July 20, 1973, he married Lea Jane Hennette at Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville. She survives.
Ore was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and honorably discharged in 1945.
His father-in-law, Elza Pearson, started his interest in carpentry work, which led to the founding of his construction business, Ore W. Vacketta and Sons Inc. in Danville. Ore's interests included golfing, antique tools, working in his yard and landscaping it. One of his favorite projects was his pond.
Ore was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Westville American Legion Post 51, Futherlight Masonic Lodge, Gao Grotto, the Elks and The Danville Boat Club.
Ore is also survived by his children, Theodore (Linda) Vacketta of Danville, Jerald (Harriet) Vacketta of Oakwood, Betty (Joseph) Pintar of Danville, Craig (Crystal) Holstine of Traverlier, Fla., and Bill (Debbie) Holstine of Danville; his grandchildren, Cydra (Olav) Christensen of Danville, Theodore (Betsy) Vacketta Jr. of Danville, Gregor Vacketta of Danville, Carla (Richard) Henry of Urbana, Lisa (Michael) Watson of St. Joseph, Susan (Jeffery) Baer of Oakwood, Marta (Mark) Fearon of Palatine, Erin (Jim) Hosken of Bloomington, Michael Holstine of Danville and Caleb Holstine of Danville; his great-grandchildren, Jessica Vacketta of Fort Worth, Texas, Leslie (Greg) Schebler of Livermore, Calif., Tove Christensen of Danville, Catherine Henry of Urbana, Sara

Ore is also survived by his sisters, Catherine Dowers, Wilma Cornwell (Larry) Schultz and Evelyn Chumas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or Special Olympics for handicapped children.
