PAXTON – William L. Dye, 84, of Paxton died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday (March 19, 2011) at the Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with the Rev. John Davenport and the Rev. Cory Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, with military graveside rites conducted by the Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Masonic services by the Paxton Masonic Lodge 416 AF&AM at 7 p.m.
Bill was born July 1, 1926, at Raven, Va., the son of William L. and Kate Schrader Dye Sr. He married Betty J. Brown on August 16, 1947, at Lebanon, Va. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2001.
He is survived by a son, William K. (Ruth) Dye of Armstrong; three daughters, Linda (Perry) Finck of Pensacola, Fla., Kathy Dye of Rantoul and Cindy (Pat) Armstrong of Rantoul; four grandchildren, Jeremy Dye, Cory Dye, Derrick Dye and Catie Armstrong; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joe Dye of Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter and two brothers.
Bill graduated from Honaker High School in Swords Creek, Va. He joined the Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific in Japan as a personnel clerk.
He was a professional painter.
He and his wife moved to Paxton in 1962. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Paxton Masonic Lodge 416 AF&AM and the Knights Templar Consistory of Danville.
