FROM BEYOND THE VEILS

Greetings Companions,
At our next stated convocation on April 26 we will be competing in the second round of the Keystone Quest. The questions and answers will be taken from the entries starting with the letter “H” in Mackey’s Encyclopedia. There is a link on the Grand Chapter’s website to an online version of the encyclopedia. Companions this is a fun and educational program of the Grand Chapter. So, study up and come help your Chapter compete in the competition.
Also, remember that your York Rite Bodies will be having a golf tournament on May 22 at noon at Mt. Carmel. Come play, have fun, and enjoy the fellowship of your Companions. And remember Companions, golf is one of the two things you don’t have to be any good at to enjoy.
One last thing Companions, please take the time to fill out and send in your surveys. While such a task might seem onerous to some of you it is, nonetheless, necessary if we are to continue to make our York Rite an organization that you wish to be part of. After all, none of us are mind readers. So, if you don’t take the trouble to tell us what you want, we have no way of knowing, and you have no right to complain that we have not taken you into consideration.

POOR & WEARY PILGRIM:

Wow are we going to have fun June 12th. I just traveled to Indiana Wednesday for their Grand Sessions. We had a very enjoyable conversation with the Immediate Past Commander and the New Grand Commander who was installed Today. They are both excited about our Outdoor Order of the Temple and plan to be there. It’s great to see Indiana and Illinois work together because it is the right thing to do and not make it a power struggle or who has the most medals.

It will be held June 12th at 2pm at Red Hills State Park. The cost is $10.00 and this includes a very nice dinner cooked by our own Grill Chefs Terry Andrews and Terry Ramsey. We have even had special coins made for this event with a cost of $10.00.

Don’t forget to send in your reservation. It and the $10.00 fee is the only way you can get in this event and don’t forget a paid up dues card.

“ Remember your obligation, you took it too”

May God Bless,
Bill Hussey

Did You Know? THE BELOW IS A REPRINT FROM THE ILLINOIS YORK RITE NEWSLETTER DATED OCTOBER 2004. IT IS FROM JOHN T. RIEDAS, SR. WHO WAS RIGHT EMINENT GRAND COMMANDER FROM 2004/2005.
Sir Knights: Several months ago, at the Spring Planning Meeting of the Grand Commandery Officers, we presented to those present a program “BACK TO THE BASICS” As the program is too long to present to you in one issue, we will be a part of this program each month. We feel that if you follow these twenty-six points it will improve your Commandery in a number of ways, new members, attendance and the future of Templary in general.

P-PRIDE: The successful individual has pride. Pride in his appearance and pride in his actions. Pride exuberates a glow that draws people. We as Knights Templar need to demonstrate to the world that we are proud to be a Christian Mason. As such, we need to take pride in the conferral of our Orders.

If we expect others to respect us and join with us we must first look at ourselves. Our appearance and our actions is what an individual sees before he receives the Orders. Each of us represents the whole of Templary to the prospective member. Therefore look at yourself in a mirror and listen to what you say. If you were the only Templar a prospective member knew, would you create the type of impression to cause this individual to join our Order?

Editors note: We will continue each issue with 1 of the 26 points.

From the District Inspector:

There will be a District School of Instruction covering opening, closing, and ceremonials on Saturday April 24 2010 at Hillsboro. There will be a lunch at 11:30 AM, followed by the school. This school is open to any and all Cryptic Masons who wish to attend, and I do hope, and expect, each Council in District 13 to be represented there. Companions, we all could benefit from a little practice and instruction, and I encourage you to attend for your own benefit, and the benefit of your Council.

                                                                                                            Fraternally,

Capitular Club/ Royal & Select Club: At our meeting Feb 21st we decided to merge the two clubs and work on whichever degree that needs the most work. The next meeting will be May 16th at Albion. We will start at 2:30pm. There are many small parts for companions who would like to get involved. Try it you might just have fun!

Next Meeting: April 26th at 7pm with our dinner at 6pm. Come break bread with your brothers and enjoy the fellowship. We have decided to ask for a minimum $5.00 donation for our meals. From the Secret Vault: Companions,
We had another great night March 30th at Bridgeport. We put on the 8th and 9th degrees, and greeted 7 new companions. Again, our Council and those that took part in the degree work did an outstanding job. I could not be happier with our Council.

May 1st will be another special opportunity. We will put on the 8th and 9th degrees again, beginning at 8:30am with coffee and donuts. The degree work will begin at 9:30am. POOR & WEARY PILGRIM:
As I am writing this newsletter I am also working on flyers for the upcoming outdoor Order of the Temple. We are trying to spread the word around about this EVENT. I do say event because it will be one of those things that will be talked about for years. This started out to Knight new members for our Commandery but has grown into a 2 or 3 state event. The members and Officers of Gorin Commandery and our Grand Commander Joe Lucas has been working and planning to make this a success.

It will be held June 12th at 2pm at Red Hills State Park. The cost is $10.00 and this includes a very nice dinner cooked by our own Grill Chefs Terry Andrews and Terry Ramsey. We have even had special coins made for this event with a cost of $10.00.

I have had a few negative comments about charging to see the Outdoor Order of the Temple. The cost is only $10.00! That even includes your dinner meal. I will not apologize for the fee, as I will not also put a heavy burden on MY Commanderies finances. This is meant as an event to Knight new members and have fun.

“ Remember your obligation, you took it too”
May God Bless,
Bill Hussey
