Wayne Lareau - Broadlands & Ogden

HOMER – Wayne Franklin Lareau, 78, of Homer died at 6:44 p.m. Sunday (July 4, 2010) at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Sidney United Church. Pastor Mike Picklesimer will officiate. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.
Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, is in charge of arrangements. There will be a private burial later.
Mr. Lareau was born on May 26, 1932, in Hoopeston, a son of Harvey John and Opal Claire Youngblood Lareau. He married May Morris on June 8, 1952, in Palarmo, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Cherie Libka of Homer, Susan (Michael) Scruggs of Parker, Colo., and Michele Lareau of Savoy; three sons, David (Phyllis) Lareau of Allerton, Daniel Lareau of Urbana and Dane Lareau of Silver Spring, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold (Betty) Lareau of Sidell.
Mr. Lareau was a farmer for many years in Allerton area. He was affiliated with the Sidney United Church. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Broadlands. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Danville lodge where he often sang with the group. He was a member of the Allerton Lions Club.
Wayne's hobbies included flying his airplane that he had co-ownership in, boating, camping and traveling.
Memorials may be made to the Sidney United Church, American Cancer Society, Homer Peace Meals or to the donor's choice.
